Pillar at Chaco

from 18.00

I don't recommend night sky photography close to where people are camping. You are definitely at the whim of their nocturnal movements. But with a little work in Photoshop and lightroom, you can recover a compelling image. I didn't have the luxury of waiting till folks were asleep, because the moon was set to rise within the hour. This pillar sits next to the Gallo Campground at Chaco Culture National Historical Park. It is at the edge of an eroding mesa, the same one that Pueblo Alto sits on and whose partial collapse a few miles west damaged part of Pueblo Bonito. Made from 16 light frames (captured with a Canon camera) by Starry Landscape Stacker 1.6.4. Algorithm: Median. Cheers!
